For a good many people, bodybuilding means getting “ripped” and being able to compete in bodybuilding competitions, where competitors look as if they can tear any Ordinary Joe in half in one movement. The competition part of this misconception is partially true: some bodybuilders do compete in competitions to exhibit professionally what they have achieved through months or sometimes even years of discipline and training. If you have been lifting weights for awhile then you have probably realized that there is a great correlation between getting stronger and getting bigger. Just take a glance at weightlifters, powerlifters, and strongmen to see some convincing examples of this phenomenon.
